Abstract The lead-tin compounds o-Tol6PbSn, o-Tol3PbSnPh3 and Mes3PbSnPh3 have been synthesized from Li and halide precursors in THF/ether at low temperatures. The crystal structures of the S4 symmetric o-Tol4Pb and of the three isomorphous title compounds have been determined (d(SnSn) 2.883 (1), d (PbSn) 2.845 (2), d (PbPb) 2.895 (2), A). The long SnSn distance is in accordance with the Raman data for the pairs of p-Tol6/o-Tol6 substituents (ν(SnSn) 131/123, ν(PbSn) 114/114, ν(PbPb) 105/103 cm−1). The sequence of the 119Sn and 207Pb chemical shifts shows clearly a polarity Pbδ−Snδ+ for all lead-tin compounds investigated. The 1J (119Sn207Pb) and 1J(119Sn119Sn) couplings of identi…
The nutrigenetic influence of the interaction between dietary vitamin E and TXN and COMT gene polymorphisms on waist circumference: a case control st…

Background Abdominal obesity (AO) is a common modifiable risk factor for certain non-communicable diseases associated with enhanced oxidative stress (OS). The objective of this work was to investigate whether the interaction between antioxidant vitamin intake and OS-related polymorphisms modulates gene-associated anthropometry in a Spanish population. Methods A total of 246 subjects with AO, and 492 age and gender matched non-AO subjects were included in the study. Anthropometric, biochemical, and OS parameters, and antioxidant dietary intake data were assessed using validated procedures. DNA from white blood cells was isolated and the genotype of seven polymorphisms from genes involved in …
Chromatin modifiers and recombination factors promote a telomere fold-back structure, that is lost during replicative senescence.

Telomeres have the ability to adopt a lariat conformation and hence, engage in long and short distance intra-chromosome interactions. Budding yeast telomeres were proposed to fold back into subtelomeric regions, but a robust assay to quantitatively characterize this structure has been lacking. Therefore, it is not well understood how the interactions between telomeres and non-telomeric regions are established and regulated. We employ a telomere chromosome conformation capture (Telo-3C) approach to directly analyze telomere folding and its maintenance in S. cerevisiae. We identify the histone modifiers Sir2, Sin3 and Set2 as critical regulators for telomere folding, which suggests that a dis…
